Introducing.....
"Jack"
born November 2, 2007
He currently lives at the
in Xi'An, ShaanXi, China
He has spina bifida and hydrocephalus just
like our daughter, Brighton
AND....
Elijah David
who resides in KaiFeng, Henan, China
He was born on October 29, 2005
He has down syndrome and is actually attending a
public Chinese kindergarten!
For those of you who are wondering--
We submitted our paperwork to CHina for approval
stating that I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer and
that I was undergoing treatment. We submitted a written statement from my
oncologist saying my cancer was removed from my body and that all treatment
I was receiving was as aggressive as possible. My life expectancy is that of any other
woman trying to adopt a child and that I would most likely be
able to raise these boys to adulthood.
Two years ago--China would have said--absolutely NO
Now...as God would have it-- they have said YES!
James 1:27 (New International Version, ©2010)
27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
I know many of you will have opinions that may be of concern-
I have heard it all before.
The bottom line is that we feel called to each of these boys and
we are being obedient to the Lord. We are willing
to step out in faith and we know that God ordained these boys
from the beginning of time.
I understand that some of you may feel you need to share your concern with
Bill or I. PLEASE-- keep your thoughts of negativity to yourself.
We do not need or want to hear them
We live our lives to please Christ.....period.
I ask that if you have concern that you pray for usin a way God leads you.
We are excited to be adopting again and feel
blessed God has taken us on this path.
I do not mean to sound harsh but I just do
not want to deal with negative comments.
Ephesians 4:29 (New International Version, ©2010)
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
I will post more on the way God brought each of these little guys intro our life.
They both have their own story... each one God breathed.

I don't know you - but congrats to you, and bless you for your greatness! I first met Jack when he was just an infant, and just a couple weeks after he joined the Starfish family and Amanda. I was only in Xi'an for about a week visiting Amanda and her amazing group, but Jack was the one baby who left the deepest impression on me. When I received Amanda's mass email a day or two ago about Jack finding a family I was overjoyed - now to see what a great family he'll be joining is even better! Congrats to you and your family, and know that you're getting one of the sweetest little kiddos I've ever met! May God continue to bless you and your family... you're a model of who/what my wife and I hope to one day become!
ReplyDeletekelly!! so happy to meet you! I am just overjoyed to meet Jack's family...he remineds me so much of our Jarib same age same medical issues and adopted from Alabama. What a little man he is! And your other new son! Yah for Down Syndrome! Do you have other "chromosonally enhanced" kids? I will have to read your back posts on blog. he is adorable! we have 2 Down Syndrome kids at home now ages 9 and 5. Had Jonathan (surprise domestic newborn adoption born 10/23/05 died 4/3/08 after bone marrow transplant) and are adopting Elsie Ping Ping age 3 1/2 yr from Gaungxi also down syndrome. we are praying hard that CCAA lets us adopt a 2nd child with Elsie also Down Syndrome. I am just sooo happy for you and your new boys!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Kelly and family!! They are precious boys and will be a huge blessing to you and you all to them. I love your heart and your desire to follow the Lord in faith. Keep doing what you do! You guys inspire me. Lisa Warren AGCI mom
ReplyDeleteHI kelly , Congratulations , your boys are adorable !I am so happy for your family ! If you are ever down this way let me know if I can help you .Love, Ann Bartlisnki
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY THRILLED!!!
ReplyDeleteI had heard sweet Jack had a family. Like I said, THRILLED to find out who his family is!!!
And your other new son, he is ADORABLE too!
We brought home two sons this past summer from China!
People can have their opinions Kelly, but you are so right in saying the only one that matters is the Lord's will for YOUR family.
Can't wait to follow along as you make your way back to China for your SONS!
Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome news!!!! I am so excited for you again!! Never underestimate the power of prayer!!
Love you,
Dawn L
Wow Kelly, I have tears in my eyes reading your post. This type of news never fails to touch my heart and especially to see this from you. Another perfect plan and I can't wait to see if fulfilled!
ReplyDeleteDear Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how overjoyed I am that you are adopting Jack. (and elijah as well, though I don't know him personally) I met Jack a couple of years ago while volunteering at Starfish. I was drawn to him because I had a younger brother who died of complications from spina bifida and hydrocephalus. What an amazing boy Jack is! Thank you for listening to God and making room in your home and heart for these special spirits! I will forever keep you and your family in my prayers!
We met Jack when we were volunteering for a brief time at Starfish back in 2008............if his finding a home with you isn't a miracle I don't know what is .............we will be praying for you all for a very long time

Found your blog through one of the yahoogroups :-) Congratulations to your family and God Bless your journey to your kiddos! We are a little further ahead of you in our journey to our daughter. I will be watching your blog for updates!
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful news to read this Sunday morning!
ReplyDeleteWARM wishes of congratulations to your entire family!!!!!

Dear Kelly,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your two new sons. I am especially thrilled that Jack will be joining your family. We are church friends of Siew-Mei's and have adopted two kids from Xining. We met Piper when she came to HK for a medical opinion in Dec 2003. God works in wondrous ways.
Many blessings,
Carmen from Hong Kong
Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations, congratulations!!!! I am so happy for your whole family. You are such a wonderful example of God's love. Your news brought tears to my eyes. :) By the way, "Jack" has a great birthday. Mine is November 2 as well. Also, our son is from Xian too. Looking forward to following your journey to these beautiful children.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! I'm Linda, Justin Best's mom. I met your beautiful daughter and son-in-law when they were here for Justin and Maggie's wedding. They are both so precious.
ReplyDeleteWe have a daughter with Down Syndrome, she is 4 years old and her name is Lila. Maryland has lots of good resources for people with Down Syndrome. So excited for you guys- to be welcoming both of these beautiful children into your family. I will be praying for your family that all will go smoothly with both of these adoptions!
Again, I'm another fan who doesn't know you but I have loved Jack for years. I've had the blessing of weighing and measuring him, holding him, singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" with him and being with him for so many of the good times as well as some of the challenging ones each week since he arrived at Starfish. You are indeed an answer to my prayers for Jack and living evidence that a loving Heavenly Father has a wonderful plan for each of His little ones. My prayers will continue for you as you welcome these two new and precious ones into your home and family. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I did not know China would give waivers for cancer. Congratulations to you on these adorable boys coming home soon!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Kelly!!!
ReplyDeleteYour family is just beautiful! I can't wait to see these two boys livin' it up with their wonderful new family.
Karrie
